Inventor 2008 Service pack cannot be installed due to existing service pack

When you tried to add a service pack to your Inventor 2008 deployment, you received the following error message:

The patch for Inventor version 12.2.0000.XXXXX has already been installed. This patch can not be applied more than once. Installation will not continue.

Where XXXXX can be:

28400 = Service Pack 1
32000 = Service Pack 2

Opening Inventor file opens new instance of Inventor

When you double-clicked an Inventor file in Windows Explorer, a new instance of Inventor was opened even though the program was already open.
